What?

On November 14th, 2008, UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School will host the premier MBA event in the investment management industry. The Alpha Challenge will pit teams from MBA programs around the country against one another in a competition focused around popular hedge fund trading strategies.

Participants will receive a defined set of stocks and a set period of time during which they are required to propose a pair trade (one long and one short recommendation) in presentation format. Each team will have 20 minutes to present their findings with questions from judges to follow.

The best of the best – students, judges, and sponsors.

Students – Three highly motivated students with a passion for the markets from the nation’s top 12 business schools will descend on Chapel Hill, NC to compete.

Benefit: Simulation of current investment decisions, exposure to high profile judges and sponsors, network with fellow MBAs, learn from the best investors in the business.

Judges Presentations will be judged by a panel of highly regarded names in the investment management field: hedge fund managers, institutional portfolio managers, and equity research analysts.

Benefit: Centralized event for recruitment of the country’s top investment professionals and opportunity to further investment management education at Kenan-Flagler Business School.
